Lakeside was the name, scripted and embossed on the steel cheeks, of the Montgomery Ward and Co. house brand axes. Reputed to be in production circa 1950’s and some since, the strong bit and square poll on the hatchet has quietly demonstrated it’s quality and endurance. Reborn on an 18″ hickory haft, filed and finished, both it’s form and function are deliberate and evident. Technology and design need not be separated from a strong grip and a clear purpose.
