A Plumb Grand Champion Axe, circa 1930. Restored and rehung on a 30″ Hickory haft, bench filed and honed. The axe was made for and named after the late great Peter McLaren, one of the best axe handlers and that ever was or is or likely will be. Though born in Australia, he was dubbed ‘America’s Champion Chopper’, was endorsed by Plumb Axes and literally wrote the book on the tool. I tried to follow his advice when working on this, and on making or swinging any axe.
