I worked with Doug Hacker in Williamstown Mass., who is hosting a house show for one of my favorite songwriters, Joe Pug.
I’ve photographed Joe before, and we have crossed paths on occasion in the last two years as he continues to hone is craft. With each encounter, the density and finish of his performances continues to increase, like a carpenter who never puts down his draw knife, continuing to plane away his planks and eternally revealing the deeper grain beneath. His songs – to me – touch on the visceral emotions of men, the primal instincts that push us in word and in deed, for all the right, and for all the wrong reasons. Joe’s songs sing with and for two voices, the judge and the judged; the predator and the prey.
The way to experience guys like these, is to sit in a living room and the witness their process right there in front of you. The good people of Williamstown will be in for a treat – more info on this event is here.
… Here is a photo from a great Joe Pug living room show I saw in Boulder Co. Look for Joe in on stages, porches, and living rooms near you.
