Some of the nicest guys in town are also, in my humble opinion, are in one of Denver’s best bands. They’re called The Knew, and they know how to have a good time and sound good doing it.
I have been drawing and using a lot of wolves lately (here is another one.) and it seems imagery and allegory of wild animals is popular in these times, at least in my experience. I think depictions, illustrative imagery especially, is often aspirational, and is a timely reflection of the maker – and the audiences – ideals at the time; they manifest the sentiments of how we feel, or want to feel, or want to be in our own lives. Wolves have their own cultural heritage, one that is often used in many forms of communication, and will always represent the wild, untamed, the feared, the marginalized, the dangerous, and to some – the abominable. I really like wolves.
For this poster New Year’s eve event poster, it was also fitting to use a wolf; the first full moon of the calendar year is the Wolf Moon. The new year’s first full moon, the Wolf Moon, will be Wednesday, January 19, 2011.
If you are in Denver on the last day of this year, come howl in 2011 with THE KNEW.
